Elemental Gelade is a cute, action packed fantasy action anime. The story revolves around Cou and Ren. Cou is a young sky pirate and meets Ren while snooping through his gang's treasury. He finds her in a box they stole from someone else's treasure. A little later you meet the sub characters Cisqua, Rowen and Keau.

During what seems to be a routine caper, the Red Lynx crew steals a large box containing a mysterious, doll-like girl. "Elemental Gelade" isn't a terribly original anime series, but the first volume is funny, poignant and colourfully entertaining. but the characterization was really good so it overcame the cliches in Gelade. Cou and Ren's relationship is pretty complicated because Ren wants Cou to be better than the humans she has known before. Elemental Gelade is a unique sci-fi story, but I didn't find it that great. I don't know if this is just my problem, but sometimes I find manga difficult to follow because of jumps in time or location that aren't pointed out very clearly.
